核试验科教记录片。是自人类发明原子弹、氢弹以来的各种核爆炸记录，采访了许多美国参与核试验的专家，非常珍贵的第一手资料。著名的“小男孩”（广岛）和“胖男人”（长崎）就在这里，不可不看！

这部纪录片描述了了从1945年到1963年在美国国内和国外的发展。影片中从解密的材料中搜集来的镜头令人难以置信，剧组人员为这些镜头付出了艰辛的努力，最终使Peter Kuran赢得了一座奥斯卡奖杯。影片描述了核试验在那个年代的整个扩张过程，包括地上、水下、气球上和高层大气核试验的镜头。这些镜头不仅另人眩目，而且使人警醒。这部影片也包含了对“氢弹之父”Edward Teller的一次访谈。影片由William Shatner解说，背景音乐由莫斯　　科交响乐团演奏。

如果没有莫斯科交响乐团的配乐，这部电影一定会失色不少。他们的音乐适时地烘托了那种恐怖同时又是畸形的美，渲染了影片极强的讽刺意味和主题。Shatner事实般的声音不带任何色彩，绝不会因为个人格而使电影偏离主题。在有意地营造一种超道德的氛围方面，这部影片无疑获得了成功。导演对核冲击波后直接的含义不做深究，似乎是独立于意识形态之外，给我们留下的只是一个恐怖的景象——核冲击波。对我而言，这确实是一部恐怖的电影……瘫坐在椅子上，目瞪口呆，留下的只有深深的震撼。而同时却又被沉重的、庄严的、演奏着奇怪小调的俄罗斯交响乐包围着。你向上帝祈祷但愿总统在看这部电影的时候也感同身受。我同时又在想最后结尾中“但是……”的完美含义。如果有人说那些武器在傻瓜的手中获得安宁的话，那真是骇人听闻的掩饰，只要你看看最后一幕中彻底的疯狂就知道了。
