　　马克斯（吉恩·哈克曼 Gene Hackman 饰）和莱恩（阿尔·帕西诺 Al Pacino 饰）都觉得彼此相见恨晚，因为个人原因不得不分手的两人约定了再次相见的日子。莱恩是一名船员，在结束了长达七年的海上漂泊作业后，他终于可以回到家乡，回到思念多年的妻子身边。马克斯是一名囚犯，在监狱里服完刑的他决定开一家洗车店，并且修复他和妹妹可莉（桃乐茜·崔斯坦 Dorothy Tristan 饰）之间的亲情。
　　马克斯邀请莱恩加盟他的洗车店，在见到了马克斯的妹妹和其女伴后，四个血气方刚的成年人迎来了属于他们的狂欢。没想到，放纵让莱恩犯下了大错，他因此被判处30天的拘禁，这段惨不忍睹的回忆，成为了莱恩不幸生活的起点。
