◎简 介
1981年一次看似是普通意外的事故，却为整个地球和人类的命运改变埋下了伏笔。随后，奇形怪状的外星人来到了地球，正式宣告了地球人一直以宇宙唯一生命的身份自居的日子彻底结束。人类并不清楚外星人是抱着什么样的心思来到地球，对于大多数地球人而言，外星人的到来并不是什么高兴的事，而却让他们深深恐惧。于是各国政府经过商议，决定在南非的贫民窟来安置这些外星人，这就是日后被称为“第九区”的外星人居住区。
28年过去了，时不时的有外星人光临地球，而他们都被送往了第九区。威库斯（沙尔托·科普雷饰）是一个第九区的行政管理人员，他是MNU（Multi－National United）的一份子，每天的工作就是和不同的外星人打交道，他深信自己的责任感重大，确保外星人能够安全且一直都在第九区里就是他最大的使命。只是一次抓捕外星人关押到第九区的任务里，威库斯被外星人所感染，在外星病毒的感染下，威库斯的身体发生了意想不到的变化，他渐渐的变成了一只巨大的甲虫化生物，而在其他地球人眼里，他也已经不再是人类，同样面临着被关进第九区的命运。这时候威库斯才发现，自己一直兢兢业业所干的事情并不是那么的正大光明，而他不但要自救，而且还决定要拯救第九区里其他千千万万的外星人……
