　　1938年万圣节前夕，纽约Albany，一位前大联盟的投手Francis Phelam，目前则是整天醉醺醺的街头游民，与他的女友一起回到了这个他们生长的地方。Helen又患有病，他与女友一起过着穷困潦倒的生活。更令人震惊的是在22年前Francis Phelam因失手杀了人，自己的小孩又意外跌落致死，这些阴影常在Francis Phelam的心里困扰着他而挥之不去。现在他又回到自己生长的故乡，Francis Phelam希望能重新开始自己的生活。
